We are all relatively new to this “political” quagmire … and at first it seems so easy. As opposed to all these self-serving “politicians”, we just need to get good everyday citizens involved, active, and in positions of leadership within the party & in elected office … and everything will be better.
That’s not so hard … right???
Well, like most things, it is easier said than done!!!
We can do whole series on how to technically “vet” candidates & leaders … stay tuned … but here are a few tips / realizations from our perspective that may help you as you build our your local America FIRST “team”. It is always better to learn from other peoples mistakes than to repeat them.
TIP #1: Realize, “they” used to be the Patriots!
Do a little background research on the old guard leadership. Politicians or party officials that have been around for 20 years or so. Not always, but in many cases you will discover they were the rabble-rouser of their time. They fought the system and the “establishment” leaders of their day … eventually won … and are now have become the “establishment” leaders that we all want to replace today. Oh how the tables have turned.
Part of this backtracking is due to peoples natural desire to maintain their “position”. They grow accustom to the idolatry and don’t want to go back to being a “normal” everyday citizen. So they start compromising a little here … take a shortcut there … before you know it, YOU yourself become the RINO you sought to purge.
And then of course there comes the MONEY … and we all know that problem!!!
Awareness of possibility “we” may become what we hate is the best protection. Setting time limits on your own time in office … and developing new Patriot leaders to fill your shoes helps protect against this inevitability.
It is not easy … but George Washington did not want the job to begin with … and he gave the job up freely and went home after two terms.
Ask yourself … would you go home to Mt. Vernon, or crown yourself King? Most pick the latter.
TIP #2: Identify the “new” RINOs
This is a little harder as it requires looking into the character, soul and mental fortitude of others.
If you look closely, you can see it. The character flaws that lead to a person who is more interested in self vs. service. The person who puts their own financial interest over doing what is objectively right for We The People.
Remember … “Don’t replace old RINOs with new RINOs!”
In some limited cases you have folks that just don’t know any better … or are innocent and simply been mislead by others with a more devious self-serving intent. But some will shine bright … they want the POWER, and they will do ANYTHING to get it.
Remember … “Watch what they DO, not what they SAY.”
Show grace … but as Dr. Maya Angelou once said, “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”
TIP #3: Hold Strong!!!
Yes, we must show “grace” and give people opportunities … newly involved folks especially as we all make mistakes … but we can not compromise values & principles … and we definitely can not quit!!!
NeverGiveUp!!! #NeverSurrender!!!
When you get in leadership positions, and “if” you do it right, it is a 24/7 commitment. Expect the crazy … and don’t be shocked at the utter insanity you have to deal with on a daily basis.
Childhood antics of others who are envious or jealous. The uninformed who think they know better and are unwilling to listen. You have to deal with it … but do not let it distract your from MISSION!!!
And know too, there are “infiltrators” (HERE) with their ulterior motives … as well as your unavoidable everyday psychopaths & sociopaths (HERE) … so don’t fall for their tricks. Give them the rope necessary to hang themselves … and just sit back and watch.
Remember, we don’t want to become them … but we also won’t fight with our hands tied behind our backs. Give it time … and trust that no matter what happens, it’s God’s PLAN & God’s TIMING!!!
TIP #4: Find Your Replacement
And here is the key to all success. If you are the right person for the job, meaning you probably don’t want the job in the first place, your #1 objective will be to find your replacement.
Be a mentor FIRST!!!
Seek out the character traits in others that will be servant leaders to your constituents. Seek folks that will put The People FIRST … and not themselves.
It is one of those easy, but hard, things to do in life … but in the political arena, nothing could be more important. Succession planning is standard in big and small business. Shouldn’t it be in politics as well?
TEST IT … ask your elected official or party leader … what character traits are they looking for in someone to be his / her replacement? “Who” are they grooming or mentoring? If they give you a look of shock and confusion … like they have no plans to ever go anywhere (except maybe higher office) … then you know they need to GO!!!
